Relearning how to use a phone

I upgraded my phone so that I could use it overseas, but it was quite the experience.  Last weekend, I looked up which phones I wanted and read the reviews on the Blackberry 6390 and the SE Experia Pro.  I really tried to give the Blackberry a chance, but no flash?!

On Monday, I went into a store because I needed the Experia right away.  But because I was on an old plan, they couldn't upgrade it so I had to call into Customer service.  So the next day, with a new plan, I go to the same store again.  I get the Electronics mgr, and after she had some problems signing in, she tries to upgrade me.  But apparently they lost the ability to upgrade existing customers, so she had to check with Head Office.  But she promised me that she'd upgrade my phone and to return tomorrow.

So now it's the 3rd, and the store is a 30 minute bus ride away.  But she's able to upgrade me so all I have to do in come into the store and put in my SIM card.  And the rep that helps me is the same one that I'd talked to on Monday and explained roaming to.  And the manager also gave me a $75 gift card for all my trouble.  So that was pretty nice.

So I'm still trying to set up my phone.  I could get the WiFi working, but for some weird reason, it won't connect to the 3G network if I don't turn data roaming on.  WTF?  And I'm trying to find what the different icons mean at the top.

And then when I'm trying to set up my account, it keeps saying I don't have a Google account just because I don't have gmail.  Stupid.
